Australia, as Francesco and I discovered, is full of strangely beautiful sites that seem like something from another world.
One of the most striking of these otherworldly places is Pink Lake (Hutt Lagoon), along the Coral Coast. Australia has several pink lakes, but this one is regarded as the most colourful. Depending on the weather and the time of day, Pink Lake can appear in varied shades ranging from pink to red to violet. You can even book an air tour of the area and see the lake from the air, but Francesco and I were quite happy to explore it from the ground. No matter the vantage point, it’s a remarkable sight. Farther south along the coast is the picturesque town of Guilderton, situated where the Moore River meets the Indian Ocean. There are lots of trails along the river as well as cruises that give you the chance to get an up-close view of one of the most pristine waterways in Australia.
